This Easter, Lluc Crusellas, young pastry chef from El Carme Pastisseria, located in Vic, a municipality located in the province of Barcelona (Spain), presents four monas representing four popular superheroes: Batman, Captain America, Superman, and Harry Potter . The idea arose “because Marvel and all the movie heroes are trending”, he explains and adds that “these four characters are the ones that transmit the most magic and can additionally, at first glance, be represented by colors, plus their personal details are super identifying ”.
Four pieces with which he has managed to make a difference with respect to other establishments in his area of influence, since they are commercial, productive, and sellable figures, as well as original and attractive. They all share the same structure: a 15 x 15 cm base and a 20 cm egg on top, “which is minimally modified with enough details for all children to identify the character,” he says. In addition, they are made entirely of chocolate (dark 60% Madagascar, milk 35%, white 30%), with the exception of the colorant used for giving them color.
The production of these monas is not easy or fast since in the El Carme workshop, they always work to achieve a polished result that is as perfect as possible. “Luckily, we have a super team of 12 pastry chefs whose average age is around 23 and 27 years old and who are used to large productions. This allows us to adapt to these circumstances. These are professionals with a lot of desire and willingness to enjoy working on what they like, pastry ”, he says.
