To be held next 26th to 30th January in Lyon, Sirha has announced, within a tight program of activities, conferences and contests, the development of Caketoy’Z, an exhibition devoted to design under the signature of major figures in this discipline and from the sweet and savory culinary world. The repertoire of creations will consist of some creature-looking individual desserts which will prove the enormous potential which the relations between design and gastronomy in general and pastry in particular have.

It will be hosted by the Food Design exhibition at Sirha, an area especially devoted to the latest trends related to culinary design. Caketoy’Z has invited renowned figures from the international and French design and pastry elite to take part in a game whose theme is the development of a collection of desserts/spherical figures split in two halves which can be personalized in countless ways according to whose hands they are on.

And so, the long list put forward by the organization includes figures like Sébastien Bouillet, Philippe Rigollot, Benoît Castel, Christophe Adam, Philippe Bertrand and Martin Díez, Bertrand Balay, Alexis Bouillet, Jerome de Oliveira, Frédéric Hawecker, Bernachon, the chef Christian Têtedoie or people from the world of design like Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, among others. The designer Emmanuel Chevalier and the pastry chef Bertrand Balay, from Compagnons du Devoir, are in charge of overseeing each of the submitted showpieces.

On the other hand, this year’s edition of Sirha aims to keep the engines of the fair at full speed and reach or even improve last year’s figures, 2011, when 2,200 exhibitors, 856 journalists and 162,615 visitors attended the exhibition. Once again, the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie and the Bocuse d’Or will become the main center of attention of the international exhibition in Lyon.
