The 43rd Championnat de France du Dessert, organized by CEDUS (Center d’Etudes et de Documentation du Sucre), was held on 21 and 22 March at the Lycée Stanislas de Nancy (France).
16 candidates (8 in the junior category and 8 in the professional category) were evaluated by a professional jury chaired by the MOF Philippe Etchebest, chef of the restaurant le Quatrième Mur in Bordeaux.
In the professional category, gold (5,000 euros, medal and diploma) was taken by Cyril Gaidella, gourmand consultant of Fosses, for his dessert called Transmission. Nicolas Serreau, of La Mère Brazier in Lyon won silver (3,000 euros, medal and diploma) for Fraîcheur exotique, and Julien Noray, from AG Les Halles in Paris, took home the bronze (2,000 euros, medal, and diploma) for Lait Miel de mon Enfance, parfum d’Hysope.
In the junior category, the first prize, valued at 3,000 euros, a medal, and a diploma, went to Enzo Franzi for his dessert, Lemon Ice. Second place (2,000 euros, medal, and diploma) went to Vincent Cabel, and third (1,000 euros, medal, and diploma) for Antoine Houzé.
