Puratos has just launched Sparkalis, the first global food tech venture in bakery, patisserie, and chocolate, with the aim of supporting the development of ground-breaking products, services and ingredients, and promoting collaboration with start-ups and SMEs.

The new company will both be a start-up incubator and provide direct investments. As its name suggests, Sparkalis will be the spark that gives wings to great food innovations so that they can move from the stage of cocoon to the end product. Through collaborations with these startups, it will focus on making baked goods healthier and more sustainable. Investments will include projects on products of plant origin, fermentation, and digitization. As Filip Arnaut, Managing Director of Sparkalis and R&D Director at Puratos assures, “Sparkalis underscores Puratos’ continued commitment to driving innovation to create a healthier and more sustainable ‘foodprint’ around the world ”.

Drawing on the history and experience of Puratos, Sparkalis will be able to quickly drive innovative ideas and bring them to market to the benefit of bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers around the world. Each project will be mentored by a Puratos specialist to maximize its chances of becoming a success. In turn, Sparkalis will provide holistic product development expertise, global scaling of ready-to-market solutions, regulatory requirements support, and training opportunities. In addition, it will offer partners access to the Puratos Taste Tomorrow research program, to obtain detailed information on the behaviors of local and global consumers in bakery, pastry, and chocolate.
