The blue and white colours of the Dubai Expo 2020 logo were turned into a 400m² giant mosaic thanks to a collaboration between the onwer of Minilicious Dubai, Zaabeel Hospitality and Dobla, the supplier of white chocolate decorations.
As it does every year, the “Club des Croqueurs de Chocolat” has declared its verdict in the form of a guide containing more than 151 addresses of chocolateries, classified by a ranking of 5 to 1 “bars”. It is a comprehensive review of the temples of cocoa in France and Japan, and was presented for the first time during the award ceremony at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris.
From October 17th to November 18th, the historical luxury hotel InterContinental Paris Le Grand will be the venue for an exhibition of 20 chocolate figures by Patrick Roger, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Chocolatier 2000. This is a further step in the influence of his artistic work on chocolate sculptures, a specialty which he has been developing in a very personal style for the last years.
The Salon du Chocolat in Paris 2013 (30/10 to 3/11) includes the fourth edition of its biennial edition for the professional sector (28 to 30/10). Cacao Barry and The Chocolate Academy of Chicago are making the final preparations for the third edition of L’Art du Chocolatier, this May 17th and 18th. Five finalists, previously selected and coming from all over the US, are to make a showpiece, a sugar confection, a chocolate tablet and a dessert in a glass concept during the two days of the competition.
The unique chocolatier Patrick Roger has just opened his umpteenth store, which has little and a lot to do with the previous ones. On number three place de la Madeleine, in the very heart of Paris, his establishment is, above all, a personal exercise of art and passion in the finest style, so typical of this MOF chocolatier.
Chocolate Week, from 8th to 14th October, was born in London some good years ago as a response for a market eager to find the latest trends in top-of-the-range chocolate. And creating a showroom in which artisans and companies could exhibit their latest creations produced excellent results. As everybody knows, being at Chocolate Week is a reward for excellence for the best chocolate artisans and manufacturers, as well as a privileged communication channel which helps the finest chocolate industry meet the most demanding British customers.
It will be the thirteenth of its kind in the world, and the third one in the American continent (there is one in the United States and a second one in Canada). Barry Callebaut is planning to open a Chocolate Academy in Mexico soon. The establishment of the chocolate multinational in Mexico derives from an agreement signed with Turín, with which Callebaut shares the aim of increasing the sales both in the industry sector and –especially– in the gourmet and professional one.
Good and productive. The sustainability of a crop which is also source of richness and life entirely depends on the balance of this binomial. GranjaLuker has spent half a century doing research and seeking the best, most resistant and most profitable cacaos, as well as updating the production methods, but one of their greatest achievements is even more important than this – the persuasion and training of the local farmers, who have realized that, economically speaking, cacao is as interesting as coffee, bananas or palm trees. For Juan Carlos Arroyave, director of the farming department of this institution, quality and productivity not only do not oppose each other, but need each other.
