Impressive is the line-up of French pastry chefs that has collaborated in a new charity calendar to support the children with heart defects in underdeveloped countries. Altogether, 12 professionals appear in photos with famous personalities and with chocolate having also a leading role.
With the arrival of spring and summer, some of the most oustanding pastry chefs in the French tradition are focusing on ice cream. Pierre Hermé, Christophe Michalak, Ladurée and Oberweis are among those who have launched new products in this sector. With the exception of Ladurée, this year the new ice cream products are more or less inspired by their own cake creations or by the classics of the pastry maestros.
Pastry cooking is all the rage in France, as evidenced by the imminent launch of the second season of the TV pastry competition of high standing. Ten professional pastry chefs will compete for glory to become the “Next Great Pastry Chef”, under the watchful gaze of Philippe Urraca, Christophe Adam, Pierre Marcolini and Christophe Michalak.
Aware of the necessity to promote the talent of its members in as many ways as possible, the association Relais Desserts decided to give the go-ahead to the organization of a new event to select the best ones among its members. The first edition of this award ceremony successfully took place last September 20th, in which Christophe Michalak received the ‘Prix d’Excellence 2013’ award as the best pastry chef of the year.

His brilliant career leading the desserts station at the Plaza Athénée merges into his successes in the past, such as winning the World Pastry Cup, and his promising projects for the future.
With a course titled “tomorrow’s pastry”, French pastry chef Christophe Michalak came to Barcelona Hofmann’s cook school. This allows us to ask him for his creative vision and know more about his moving to essence, fresh products, without garnishes…

Pierre Hermé, Christophe Michalak, Arnaud Larher, Jean-Paul Hevin, Pierre Marcolini, Pascal Caffet, la Maison du Chocolat, Stéphane Glacier, Patrice Chapon, Patrick Roger, Emmanuel Ryon… They all have worked hard to design a new line of chocolate eggs and figures for Easter.
