An essential part of the ice cream world is created from play and nostalgia, dimensions that allow us to travel back in time and become children again. This opens up a unique way o relating to the world to experiment, explore, discover, and create from a new perspective. This is the central theme of so cool..magazine 3, an issue that pays homage to play and nostalgia as engines of inspiration and creativity.

   

Nostalgia is the leitmotif of a diverse range of creativity, which materializes in magnificent works by professionals such as Russ Thayer, Mario Masiá, Booby Cortez, Erika Quattrini, as well as Paula López, Mariluz Villegas, Prathana A. Narang, Vinesh Johny, and Bang Gai, among others.

   

Ice cream is also a culturally “designed” object, inviting reinvention from aspects as varied as concept, taste, and presentation. Creations by chefs such as Andrés Lara, Juan José Orueta, Yusuke Matsuhita, and Sachiyo Takagi fall into this category. Particularly noteworthy is Talia Profet‘s Smoked Oolong & Cocoa Soft Serve, an exceptional reimagining of the traditional cone and soft serve, elevated to a purely gastronomic level. This is the creation with which the magazine launches.
