Cacao Barry and The Chocolate Academy of Chicago are making the final preparations for the third edition of L’Art du Chocolatier, this May 17th and 18th. Five finalists, previously selected and coming from all over the US, are to make a showpiece, a sugar confection, a chocolate tablet and a dessert in a glass concept during the two days of the competition.
As Paco himself has stated repeatedly, ‘not a single day have I stopped learning’. And above this, he has incessantly taught all those who have ever approached his workshop or attended any of his countless courses all over the world. So now, and taking advantage of the excellent facilities in his workshop, the ‘Paco Torreblanca School’ is born, with the purpose of imparting his knowledge through a complete, fully-structured program which will include the main subjects of artisanal patisserie.

GranjaLuker has spent half a century doing research and seeking the best, most resistant and most profitable cacaos, as well as updating the production methods, but one of their greatest achievements is even more important than this – the persuasion and training of the local farmers, who have realized that, economically speaking, cacao is as interesting as coffee, bananas or palm trees. For Juan Carlos Arroyave, director of the farming department of this institution, quality and productivity not only do not oppose each other, but need each other.

Andy Chlebana, Christophe Feyt, Stephen Durfee and Roy Pell will make up the team representing the USA in the next edition of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie (Lyon 2013). They all qualified in a test held in The Grand Rapids Community College, and were chosen out of a group of eight finalists.

Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States of America and founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation, will play a distinguished part in the next edition of the NRA Show in Chicago next May 6th. Clinton will address the attendees and will share his experiences as former US president and current leading member of the foundation named after himself.
The Chocolate Academy of Chicago and Cacao Barry® are searching for the Chocolatier of the Year in 2012 in its annual L’Art du Chocolatier Challenge, a competition that encourages creativity and expertise in designing and executing original creations.
A new edition of the World Chocolate Masters, one of the most prestigious and spectacular competitions, will be held during the Professional Salon du Chocolate in Paris, from 19th to 21st October this year. On this occasion, a total number of 19 professionals will show their best by making an artistic piece, a cake, a dessert and assorted bonbons based on the theme ‘Cacao, a gift from Quetzalcoatl’.
