Through the initiative and supervision of Roberto Rinaldini, the Italian Academy of Master Pastry Chefs and CASTAlimenti, the Pastry Arena at Sigep (in the Italian town of Rimini) will be a veritable catwalk of pastry cooking events over five festive-filled days (from the 17th to the 21st January). The most important of these events will be, without doubt, the World Junior Pastry Championship, in which the competing countries will be Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, France, Poland, U.S.A., Brazil, Russia and representatives from ex-Yugoslavia. The theme this year will be “Italian Food Style” and the event will take place on the 17th and 18th of January. In addition, throughout the fair, the setting of the Pastry Arena will be further enriched by the sculptures from the International Competition, The Star of Sugar, a competition dedicated to sugar and sponsored by Decosil. It will provide a superb gallery of creations, which this year is focused upon one of the great Italian symbols on the world stage, the car brand,  “Ferrari: the man, the machine, the myth.”

The rest of the pastry cooking competitions will not be so international. On Monday 19th, the Senior Italian Pastry Championships will take place (older than 23 years of age) with the “DNA of Italian pastry cooking” as its theme, where competitors will be challenged to interpret the best of the tradition of “Made in Italy”. On Tuesday 20th, young Italian pastry chefs will face each other in the Junior Italian Pastry Championship (less than 23 years of age) with one of the great icons of youth and style in Italy, the motorcycle brand, Vespa.

Finally, there is also great expectation surrounding the Italian selection process for the next edition of Pastry Queen 2016 (with the theme of style and haute couture), and the Italian Chocolate Masters, sponsored by Barry Callebaut.
